I hope that you’ve been enjoying the warmer weather while staying safe. June was a busy month across Saskatoon as many businesses and services started to reopen. I want to thank everyone for their work to flatten the curve and prevent the spread of Covid-19 in Saskatoon. We aren’t out of the woods yet, so please continue to follow the advice of public health officials.
Thank you to all the people who took time to join my June 2020 online town hall meeting or my Coffee With Your Councillor virtual gathering. Even though we can’t gather for community events, I appreciate people staying connected to the ongoing discussions about our City. If you can make the time, please join one of my upcoming virtual meetings, including the Ward 10 Town Hall Meeting on July 15th with Mayor Clark.
With restrictions still in place surrounding large gatherings, I had to make the tough decision to cancel the 8th Annual Ward 10 Community BBQ that had been scheduled for this summer. The BBQ has always been a highlight for me to bring people together in our neighbourhoods for an afternoon of fun and fellowship. Despite the disappointment of not being able to host people in person, I am excited to announce that the BBQ will be moved to a virtual format this year. With special treat bags, online activities, contests, draws, and prizes, I hope you’ll join me for some physically distanced community fun during the week of July 12th. More details are available on my website.
This is a time of year when many are taking some holidays, but lots of work continues for City Council as we work to make our city an even better place to live. Important discussions around community safety, infrastructure projects, long-term neighbourhood planning, and city finances are still taking place. All of our committee and Council meetings are broadcast online, so please feel free to tune into those discussions in the months to come on the City website (www.saskatoon.ca).
As always, it is an honour to work for you and your family at City Hall. I wish you all an enjoyable and safe summer season.
All the best,
Zach
